Report Category Details

The Report Category defines how DeskMon reports its status messages,
exceptions, or errors.

   * To see a list of the Report Categories, press OTHER KEYS F7 and
       LIST F2.

   * To add another Report Category, complete the screen form and press
       ADD F2.

   * To modify a Report Category in the list, get the entry by typing
the Report Category name and pressing GET F5. Change the details
on the screen and then press MODIFY F6.

   * To delete a Report Category from the list, get the entry by typing
the Report Category name and pressing GET F5. Then press DELETE
       F3.

The fields on the screen are as follows:

Report Category

The name which you wish to associate with this particular type of
reporting. You can choose any name, but you should make it meaningful.
The name can be up to eight (8) alphanumeric characters in length.

Local

The following fields apply only to this particular computer on which
DeskMon is running.

       Tellop to console
Type Y if you wish this Report Category to send TELLOPs to this
       system's console. Otherwise, type N.

       Tell to user
Type Y if you wish this Report Category to send TELL messages to a
particular MPE user on this system. If you type Y, then fill in
the name of an MPE user in the user is field (in the format
USER.ACCOUNT) to which the TELLs will go.Otherwise, type N.

       Write to local printer
Type Y for this Report Category to be written to the local printer
configured in the System Details menu. Otherwise, type N.

Remote

The following fields apply only to a remote computer on which DeskMon is
running and with which this computer has a direct connection (through
LAN, NS, DS, X.25, and so on).

       System NS/DS node
Type the name of the remote system where you will be sending the
DeskMon notification from this system. Use the NS node name if
you are using NS, or the DS device name if you are using DS.
DeskMon is significantly more efficient using NS to report to
remote systems. We recommend that you use NS for reporting
       wherever possible.
For NS, it is best to fully qualify the node name in the format:

            NODE.DOMAIN.ORGANIZATION
       For example:

            SY66.CORP.HPCOM
If you are using DS rather than NS to make the connection for
remote notification, then PTOP is used. DeskMon requires a remote
       session, and will logon as:

            DESKMON.HPOFFICE
This user must have the same password as MAILMAN.HPOFFICE on that
system. Also the DS device name entered on the Report Category
screen must be the same name as the computer set up in the HP
DeskManager Computer menu for that remote machine.

       Tellop to console
Type Y if you wish this Report Category to send :TELLOPs to the
remote system's console. Otherwise, type N.

       Tell to user
Type Y if you wish this Report Category to send TELL messages to a
particular MPE user on the remote system. If you type Y, then
fill in the name of an MPE user, on the remote system, in the user
is field (in the format USER.ACCOUNT) to which the TELLs will go.
       Otherwise, type N.

       Write to remote printer
Type Y for this Report Category to be written to the printer which
is configured in the System Details menu of the remote system.
       Otherwise, type N.

Send HPDesk Message

Type Y if you wish this Report Category to send an HP DeskManager
message. If you type Y, then fill in the name of an HP DeskManager user
in the To field and their corresponding HP DeskManager location and, if
necessary sublocation. The HP DeskManager user's name must be entered in
the format FIRSTNAME LASTNAME (not LASTNAME,FIRSTNAME). The HP
DeskManager user can be either local or remote and the messages will be
sent with URGENT priority. Otherwise, type N. Note that when the message
is sent, the user name of the sender comes from the MPE logon name, and
the mailnode comes from the mailnode specified for the Default FSC User
in the HP DeskManager configurator.

Reporting by HP DeskManager messages should only be used sparingly as
this can result in the HP DeskManager database filling up, and is also
dependent on the performance of HP DeskManager. Thus, if HP DeskManager
is down on either the reporting machine or the user's machine, the
DeskMon report will be either delayed or never sent.
