Fields

Terminal name Optional field which specifies the terminal port
name. You may enter up to 16 characters or an IP
address. For routable back- to-back environments,
this field must contain a valid IP address for the
terminal port in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, where
xxx is a number from 0-255.

Data transfer Specifies the mode of data transfer. For
back-to-back connections, the field can be either
ASCII or binary. If the profile will not be
configured for back-to-back connections, enter 1
                      for ASCII.

DTC user interface Specifies whether the DTC user interface timeout is
timeout? active. If enabled, terminal connection to the DTC
user interface is automatically disconnected after
the timeout period defined on DTC User Interface
screen (see Figure 7-3 ). Field is valid only
if switching is enabled in the "Enable switching?"
                      field.

Enable port? Specifies whether communication can pass through
the port. If disabled, no communication can pass
                      through the port.

Enable switching? Specifies switching capability of the port.
Enabling switching allows you to access more than
one system. If switching is enabled, you will see
a DTC prompt that was specified on the DTC User
Interface screen chapter 8 in Figure 7-3 .
Connection to other systems on the LAN can be made
by entering connect system name at the DTC prompt
(refer to chapter 8 for more information on the DTC
userinterface). If switching is disabled, the
terminal will be automatically connected to the
host defined in the "Default destination" field.

Automatic Specifies automatic connection capability of the
connection? device to the system specified in the "Default
destination" field. If enabled, the DTC senses the
modem signal's rise and automatically connects the
device to the value of "Default destination".
"Allow :HELLO logon?" field on Terminal Profile
screen must be enabled. Field is valid for modem
ports only ("Modem behavior" field on Terminal
Profile screen must be set to 1, 2, or 3).

Excape from data Optional field which specifies the character which
transfer character will return the terminal user to the DTC user
interface. Field applies only if switching is
enabled. Field may be either an ASCII character or
a control character entered as ^char where char is
                      any letter, [, \, ^, _, or ]. If field is left
blank, you will not return to the DTC user
interface before logging off the session.

Default destination Specifies the system which the terminal will
connect to. Field must be completed if switching
is disabled or if automatic connection is enabled.
Field can be a node name in the format
name.domain.organization or an IP address in the
format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Default is the entry in
the field "Local HP 3000 node name" on the Main
                      screen.

Initialization Optional field that specifies the string that will
string be sent to the attached device under one of the
                      following circumstances:

                         *   After resetting a port.

                         * After closing a session on the host and
returning to the DTC user interface.

                         * After entering the escape character during a
system session and returning to the DTC user
                             interface.

                         * After establishing a connection to the DTC
user interface for modem connections when
                             all modem signals are up.

Field is case-sensitive and can be up to 16 characters, including special
characters and escape-code sequences in the format ^char.
