Fields

Host name Names the port. Field can be a node name up to 16
characters long or an IP address in the format
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. If a node name is entered, the
domain and organization names from the DTC node
name will be taken to form a fully-qualified host
node name. Also, if a node name is entered, the IP
address of the DTC configured with this host port
must be entered in the "DTC IP Address" field on
                      the DTC Configuration screen
                      ( Figure 5-5 displays the DTC 72MX
                      Configuration screen as an example).

If routers are used to connect two DTCs, this field
                      must contain an IP address.

Line speed The line speed,in bits per second. Supported
                      speeds are 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, and
38400. Default is 9600. (Line speed 38400 is
supported for direct connect devices on DTC
16iX/16MX and DTC 72MX only, and the attached
device must also support this speed.)

Modem type Specifies the type of modem
used in the connection. Default is 0.

0 means that modems will not be used.

1 means that a US modem will be used.

2 means that a European modem will be used.

Modem behavior The DTC supports the following types of modem
behaviorwhich define the protocol used to establish
a modem link between the DTC port and the attached
                      device. Default is 0.

                      0 means no modem used.

1 specifies DCE modem behavior. Used for terminal
connections. It uses a 2 minute timer to establish
the link, and the DTC may disconnect if a carriage
return is not received within a 2 minute interval.

2 specifies DTE modem behavior. Used for termtype
26 supported on MPE/iX for remote printer access.

3 specifies DCE modem behavior, except that it does
not use a 2 minute timer to establish the link.
The port remains open for connection establishment
and the DTC does not disconnect the link after a 2
minute interval. (This option is supported on DTC
                      16iX/16MX and DTC 72MX only.)

Parity The type of paritythat will be used if parity is
enabled for this profile. Choices are none, even,
odd, 0's, or 1's. Default is NONE.

Data transfer Specifies the mode of data transferin back-to-back
connections. Field may be either ASCII or binary.
                      Default is ASCII.

Enable port? Specifies whether communication can pass through
the port.If disabled, no communication can pass
through the port. Default is Y.

Enq/Ack flow Enables enq/ack flow control.Enq/ack flow control
control? is needed when the host port is connected to MPE/V
                      systems. Default is Y.

Automatic Enables automatic connectioncapability of the port.
connection? When enabled, the port will automatically connect
to the system specified in the "Destination node
name" field. The connection will be established
when the port senses the rise of the modem signals
of the device connected to the port. Field can be
enabled on modem ports only ("Modem behavior" field
on Terminal Profile screen must be set to 1, 2, or
                      3). Default is N.

Hardware Specifies whether hardware handshakewill be used.
handshaking? Hardware handshake uses modem signals CTS and RTS
to pace the data transfer from the DTC to the
attached device. Default is N. (Supported on DTC
                      16iX/16MX and DTC 72MX only.)

Destination node Optional field
name which specifies the system to which the port will
connect if "Automatic connection?" field is
enabled. A name must be entered if "Automatic
                      connection?" is enabled.

Initialization Optional field
string which specifies the string that will be sent to the
attached device under one of the following
                      circumstances:

                         *   After resetting a port.

                         * After the connection to this port is closed.

                         * After establishing a connection to the DTC
user interface for modem connections when
                             all modem signals are up.

Field is case-sensitive and can be up to 16 characters, including special
characters and escape-code sequences in the format ^char.
