Fault Isolation and Repair The Secure Web Console (SWC) is repairable by unit replacement
only. The SWC does not contain any field replaceable components.
The following paragraphs will explain the process of diagnosing
and repairing faults in the SWC or its power supply.
Isolating Faults
 The SWC may indicate faults through indicator LEDs or by failure
of SWC services (Communications loss).
Repairing Faults
 Software faults are repaired by: - Checking and resetting the console
configuration
- Resetting the SWC, or
- Updating SWC firmware.
Hardware faults are repaired by: - Replacement of the SWC unit, or
- Replacement of the SWC power module.
Fault Diagnosis
 The following table provides a listing of possible fault indications
and suggested remedies

anyone else ping the IP?
If no one can ping the
SWC:
Observe SWC green LED.
If not
blinking troubleshoot LAN cable or SWC.
If blinking,
reset to factory default then reconfigure.

Can't log in as SWC administrator.
|
Maximum number of SWC users (4) are already
logged in.
Reset to factory default then reconfigure.
|
Can't communicate with the Server from
the SWC.
|
Press [Ctrl B] to access the service processor.
If
unsuccessful verify that SWC serial configuration matches server
console port.
If still unsuccessful try a different
serial cable.
If unsuccessful try a console terminal.If
successful replace SWC.

Resetting the Secure Web Console (SWC)
 There are three ways to reset the SWC: - Reset via the SWC Support Menu Reset
Option
- Power Cycle Reset
- Reset to factory settings
 | Reset to factory settings will erase all user
configuration items. (IP address, users, etc.) |
Reset via the SWC Support Menu Reset Option - To perform a reset of the SWC using the SWC reset menu option proceed
as follows:

| Step 1. | Select the Reset Web Console option from
the Support section of the SWC main menu.
 |
| Step 2. | Note the screen display listing currently logged on
users.
 | All users, including you, will be logged off
and will need to re-log-in if you proceed with the reset. |

| Step 3. | Select [OK] to continue with reset. |
Power Cycle Reset - To perform a soft reset (power cycle) of the SWC proceed as
follows:

| Step 1. | Unplug the SWC power supply module from the
SWC.
 |
| Step 2. | Reconnect the plug from the power supply module to the
SWC. |
Reset to factory settings - To perform a hard reset of the SWC to factory defaults proceed
as follows:
 | Performing a hard reset to factory defaults will
erase user configuration settings. |

| Step 1. | Unplug the SWC power supply module from the
SWC. |
| Step 2. | Depress and hold the reset switch on the SWC box while
reconnecting power in the next step.
 |
| Step 3. | Reconnect the plug from the power supply module to the
SWC. |
 | Pressing the Reset button by itself has no effect on
the SWC. |
