Secure Web Console Overview

The HP Secure Web Console is a small (about the size of a VCR tape) Internet appliance that makes the HP 9000 and HP 3000 server consoles available over a corporate Intranet or Internet for the purpose of remote management access to the server console.

One side of the HP Secure Web Console plugs into the server console port and the other side plugs into the corporate Intranet or Internet.

Due to the Internet/Intranet connection, any PC with either a Microsoft© or Netscape© browser can remotely access the server console.

Secure Web Console Models

All secure web console models contain the same functionality. The Secure Web Console is available in the following models.

External Stand-Alone

The HP Secure Web Console Stand-Alone external box is about the size of a VCR tape. It is connected to the server via an RS-232 serial port and to the Internet/Intranet via a twisted-pair cable and RJ-45 modular plug connection.

PCI Card

The PCI card version of the secure web console is standard half-card PCI form factor. It is connected to the server via an external RS-232 connection and to the LAN via a twisted-pair cable and RJ-45 modular plug connection. Available as a factory installed option on the A-400 and A-500 servers only.
