This section describes how to determine your system configuration group.

The factory System Load Tape (SLT) does not contain a default I/O configuration. During an installation, you must specify the appropriate factory configuration group when booting the system immediately after installing the factory SLT. Listing the system configuration uses the off-line diagnostic tool, Mapper. To get help using MAPPER, type help at the MAPPER prompt, and see Figure 5-1 “Sample Listing MAPPER Output” for a sample listing.

To list the system configuration:

  1. Check that all hardware peripherals are attached and powered on.

  2. Start ODE.

    ISL>ODE
  3. Display hardware configuration.

    ODE>RUN MAPPER
    ODE>RUN MAPPER2 (for N-Class and A-Class systems)

The figure on the following page is a sample of a MAPPER display.

  4. Record the I/O configuration for your system.

Find the MPE/XL Model String. Then refer to Appendix B “Configuration Tables” for the configuration group name for your HP e3000 model in the SCSI column. For example, for a Model 995, the SCSI group is CONFG995. It is very important to have the exact group name. Check carefully for numbers zero and 1 and letters O and I.

  5. Exit mapper.

    ODE>EXIT
