In a one-way conversation with confirm, the side that sends the data requests confirmation from the receiving side that the conversation is synchronized. Figure 2-2 “One-Way Phone Conversation With Confirm” illustrates a one-way conversation in which the local TP asks the remote TP for confirmation that it received all the data the local TP sent.

One-Way Phone Conversation With Confirm

In a one-way conversation with confirm, the caller does not hang up until it has received confirmation that the conversation is synchronized. Once synchronization has been confirmed, each side ends the conversation independently of the other.
