DISCFREE is a utility that reduces the amount of fragmentation on a disc. Fragmentation is a term used to describe the extent to which files are physically divided up on a disc. As disc space becomes fragmented, smaller and smaller amounts of contiguous space are available, and files must be broken into smaller and smaller pieces to fit.
