Performing System Management Tasks: HP 3000 MPE/iX Computer SystemsChapter 2 Getting Started Defining Your System |
|
Table of Contents As system manager, your responsibilities include configuring your system when it is initially installed and adding or changing devices as time goes on. When your system is delivered, it includes a tape with default configuration information. To modify the system configuration, you use the system generator (SYSGEN) and either copy the changes to a system load tape (SLT), or copy them to disk in a configuration group. You must have system manager (SM) capability to make and keep changes with SYSGEN. Users with system supervisor (OP) capability can use SYSGEN to view the system configuration and make system load tapes. NMMGR is a menu-driven utility that produces a configuration file used by data communications products to determine their operating characteristics. It configures the network interface and the DTS link. Information about NMMGR and the DTS link are contained in Configuring Systems for Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial Devices (32022-90001).
