Before a device can be used on your system you must define a pathway, consisting of various interface components, from the system to the device. Each pathway component, and the device itself, is defined (or configured) by specifying the IO Configurator APATH or ADEV command, the component's address, and the component's identifier.

This section also provides a procedure for configuring additional other devices.

For additional information on the commands used in these procedures, refer to Chapter 5 “Modifying Input/Output (I/O) Configurations”

NOTE: The examples in this section refer to an assortment of identifiers for devices, device adapters, and bus converters. The specific identifiers that you would use in configuring your system depend on your specific hardware. For more information refer to the documentation shipped with your hardware or contact your Hewlett-Packard support representative.
