Configuring and Managing MPE/iX Internet Services: HP 3000 MPE/iX Computer SystemsChapter 3 Telnet Service |
|
Table of Contents With the release of version C.55.00 of MPE/iX, Telnet server functionality is available to HP 3000 customers. The Telnet server allows users on a remote system that supports the TCP/IP and Telnet protocols to log on and run applications on the HP 3000. The Telnet client, which was first made available on version C.50.00 of MPE/iX, gives users on an HP 3000 direct access to other systems that support Telnet and TCP/IP. This chapter describes:
Before release C.55.00, the capability to receive incoming Telnet connections on the HP 3000 was only available with DTC Telnet access. The HP 3000 processed such connections via a DTC configured with a Telnet Access Card (TAC) using PC-based management software. HP 3000 customers can continue to use DTC Telnet access, particularly if the level of Telnet traffic places a heavy load on the processing capacity of the host HP 3000's CPU.
