Attempting a CONNECT may result in the display of several messages. When an application issues a command to connect to a DBEnvironment, ALLBASE/SQL first attempts a local connection. If one of the following conditions exists on the local node, ALLBASE/SQL attempts a remote connection:

  • The CONNECT command is issued on a diskless node.

  • The /usr/lib/hpsqlproc file (database server process) does not reside on the local node.

  • There is no file with the DBEnvironmentName referred to in the CONNECT command on the local system.

  • There is a file with that name, but it is not a DBECon file on the client system.

If the remote connection is not successful, one or two error messages are returned, as shown in the following illustration.
