HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) 5.1 with Service Pack 1 for Windows provides the following enhancements over 5.1:

Fixed a problem with the HP SIM 5.1 upgrade failing and potentially causing an operating system account to be locked out.
Fixed problems with upgrades of HP SIM, HP ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack, and HP ProLiant Essentials Virtual Machine Management Pack when the service account is changed in the HP SIM installer.
Fixed a problem with slow HP SIM startup when configured with an Oracle database with 10,000 or more HP SIM events.
Fixed the Initial ProLiant Support Pack Install tool to fully honor the Reboot systems if necessary after successful install checkbox if it is unchecked.
Fixed the Configure or Repair Agents tool to be able to update target systems of type unknown in HP SIM.
Included the newer WMI Mapper version 2.3 with fixes to increase the reliability of WMI communications from HP SIM to resolve discovery issues related to failed WMI communications. This addresses some issues when managing VM's utilizing HP SIM and Virtual Machine Management Pack.
Corrected a problem where events are repeatedly logged for some systems which are not licensed for Insight Power Manager.

You can combine system and event collections for added power and flexibility. You can easily view events associated with system collections and vice versa. Improved versatility for moving and copying collections.

Automatic event handling utilizes both event and system collections.
Event management (clearing, deleting, and so on) is possible for users with limited configuration rights privileges. Users do not have to be full configuration rights users.
Increased control over HP SIM generated e-mail format
For All HP Services Events, additional case information is now available.
New event types in the HP Service Events categories provide advance notification when a managed system warranty or contract is about to expire.

You can configure the task wizard to skip the target verification.
On the target verification page, you can filter the task by selecting system or event filters.

Added a new tool to read ActiveDirectory group membership for systems and place the membership in the database. This can be used for searches and authorizations.
Support for determining membership in Windows domains, Organizational Units (OU), and static groups, as defined in Windows Active Directory by using LDAP 3 to communicate with the Active Directory server.

More refined control over Trusted System Certificates: Always Accept, First Time, and Require.
New SSL certificate management support makes using the stringent Require trusted certificates option easy to set up with an optional automatic import of certificates upon first receipt.
A separate WBEM certificate for WBEM connections is used as a client credential.
Authorizations can track your dynamic system environment automatically

Discovery of HP virtual machine systems is now available.
HP SIM discovers external LUs (a feature of External Storage XP) on XP arrays that are managed by Command View XP Advanced Edition.

When setting protocol settings, the Write community string is only required for firmware updates on a GbE switch.
WBEM communications now support certificate-based authorization as well as user and password-based authentication where support is available. The Configure or Repair Agents have also been extended to configure WBEM certificates on target systems.

HP SIM can now generate reports containing event information, as well as nPars and tape libraries.
Improvements to inventory reports for non stop systems and power supplies.
Presentation improvements for snapshot reports.

New quick search available.
Easier to use interface for creating custom tools.
You can enlarge the System Status panel to display a separate, large window that can be resized and viewed from across a room without sitting at the HP SIM terminal.
The HP SIM Configure and Repair Agents tool enables you to configure Windows managed systems from a HP-UX or Linux CMS
An improved license management user interface.
Error messages have been rewritten to include a root cause and a corrective action.
New default task to delete events older than 90 days.
Can manage c-Class blade systems.
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed information displays Critical, Major, and Minor systems and the events associated with the system, including totals.
Product registration enables you to receive notification of software updates, support alerts, and newsletters.
Complies with new start and end dates effective in 2007 for US and Canada Daylight Saving Time

HP SIM includes a new Service Essentials Remote Support Pack plug-in. This plug-in leverages elements of HP’s Service Essentials Remote Support Pack technology and provides integrated HP SIM and Remote Support Pack capability.
When the Remote Support Pack and HP SIM are installed together on a Windows CMS, you can monitor and view contract and warranty data in the HP SIM user interface. An HP support contract is not required for monitoring warranty data.
HP SIM includes HP Insight Power Manager which provides new insight into ProLiant server energy consumption to include centralized graphical reporting and analysis of power and cooling costs for groups of servers, policy-based power management based on the time of day, and instantaneous and historical views of thermal output and power consumed.
HP SIM supports the launch of HBAnyware from the system page of storage hosts with Emulex HBAs.
