The Insight Orchestration 1.0.1 patch resolves the following critical issues:

  • Insight Orchestration truncating the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) of Virtual Machine Hosts within HP SIM

  • Insight Orchestration creating ID-VSE LogicalServers using an actual hostname potentially leading to HP SIM node conflicts

If Insight Orchestration services are deployed and you cannot deactivate all of the services before applying the patch, you must contact HP Support to obtain an additional patch support tool to convert your existing services. The tool executes immediately before applying the patch and allows your existing Insight Orchestration services to continue to function with the new version of Insight Orchestration. HP Support will help you both obtain the tool and execute the tool on your system. This is a required patch. You must update your existing CMS for HPIO to function correctly.

To update an existing CMS:

  1. Select all virtual machine hosts and their contained virtual machines (use the HP SIM tree view) and delete the HP SIM nodes.

  2. Select all c-Class physical servers which currently have an operating system deployed and delete the HP SIM nodes.

  3. If you have services currently deployed, you must contact HP Support to obtain an additional patch tool which will be used to convert your existing services. The tool is executed immediately before applying the patch and allows your existing HPIO services to continue to function with the new version of Insight Orchestration.

    NOTE: Skip this step if you deleted your Insight Orchestration services.
  4. Execute the Insight Orchestration 1.0.1 patch installer.

  5. After successfully executing the Insight Orchestration 1.0.1 patch installer, re-run HP SIM discovery for all Virtual Machine hosts and c-Class physical servers.

If you do not need to keep your current Insight Orchestration services running, you can delete all active Insight Orchestration services before installing the patch.

To delete active Insight Orchestration services:

  1. Login to Systems Insight Manger on the CMS.

  2. Select Tools->Insight Orchestration.

  3. Select the Services tab.

  4. Select each service and press Delete.

  5. Monitor the delete process using the Requests tab.

After deleting all the Insight Orchestration services, follow the steps in the first procedure to update your CMS, however you do not need to contact HP support.
