Installing or updating the CMS using the Insight Software 3.10 DVD

If you install or upgrade to HP ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack (RDP) 3.83.15 to the Central Management Server (CMS) using the Insight Software 3.10 DVD, Insight Orchestration cannot automatically provision a physical server. Specifically, Insight Orchestration will fail to successfully customize the operating system on the server as a part of the operating system install. To avoid this issue, do one of the following:

  • Install Rapid Deployment Pack 3.83.15 on the CMS first. You can use either the Rapid Deployment Pack 3.83 DVD or the Insight Software 3.10 DVD. After installing Rapid Deployment Pack on the CMS, use the Insight Software 3.10 DVD integrated installer to continue installing your Insight Software products.

  • Install Rapid Deployment Pack to a server that is separate from the CMS.

Correcting a checksum error

If power is removed from the server during the power on sequence, an invalid checksum error might occur in the Fibre Channel HBA firmware. If this error occurs, the following message appears during server power up:

  1. To correct this issue, press the CTRL+Q keys to launch the HBA Fast!UTIL utility. After you enter the utility, the following screen appears:

  2. On this screen, press the Enter key. Pressing Enter corrects NVRAM and generates a new checksum. During this process and server reboot, Virtual Connect continues to supply the HBA configuration parameters preventing data loss.

After pressing Enter the following screen appears, indicating that the NVRAM has been corrected.

  3. Press the ESC key to exit the utility. The following screen appears:

  4. Press the Enter key to reboot the system. When the system reboots, all the HBA configuration parameters are re-supplied by Virtual Connect and your server returns to normal operation.
