The command log file contains a history of VxVM tasks performed in the current session and previous sessions. It contains a description of each task, along with properties such as the start/finish times and the low-level commands used to perform the task. For failed tasks, the command log includes any relevant error messages. The command log file resides, and can be viewed, at /var/vx/isis/command.log.

The following example shows a sample command log file entry:

Description: Add Log to Volume
Date: Wed April 17 4:36:11 2002
Command: /usr/sbin/vxassist -g datadg addlog data vol
Output: vxvm:vxassist: ERROR: Volume datavol-L01: Volume's logging
type not supported
Exit Code: 20
