Monitoring File System Capacity

Procedure 5-12 To monitor the capacity of a file system

1. Select the file system to be monitored.

2. Choose Actions > Set Usage Threshold.

3. Complete the Set Usage Threshold dialog box as follows:

   Monitor Capacity	Select the Monitor Capacity checkbox to initiate capacity monitoring on the file system. The File Systems Tabular View indicates if capacity monitoring is Enabled or Disabled.
   Threshold Percentage	Select the Threshold Percentage value. When usage crosses this value, an alert will be logged.
   Alert Interval (vxfs systems only):	Specifies the minimum time between recording alerts. (Avoids multiple recordings if events are moving back and forth over the boundary.)

   	NOTE: For systems other than vxfs, alert thresholds are not persistent (that is, the information is lost when the server restarts). This means that: File system objects on the bus reflect the threshold and enabled status for alerts Once an alert is fired, the status on the bus is disabled so that the alert is not refired at every periodic rescan (This can be avoided by allocating a low value to Threshold Percentage.)
