To verify
that all required HP-UX applications have been installed or updated,
you should have already tried the Software Distributor commands swlist and swverify, as explained in “Verifying the HP-UX
Install or Update”.
For example, to verify that the HP-UX 11i v2 default operating environment
is intact on your system, enter the command:
/usr/sbin/swlist -l bundle
Identify the bundle(s) containing the OE extension.
Then enter this command to verify it:
/usr/sbin/swverify bundle-name
If you get an error like the following, then the software
identified is incompatible with your system and needs to be replaced
with a newer version:
The product “xyz,l=/,r=B.xx.xx” is not compatible with this system's architecture or operating system.
Start Task
To update the HP-UX software, do the following:
Mount the HP-UX Applications
DVD that contains the software.
Go to Chapter 8 “Installing
Patches and Applications” to install or update the new version using the swinstall command.
Use the application; this
is the best way to verify the application’s operation.
Open each application, view a working document or project,
and perform typical production operations such as editing a file
and printing a report. If the application does not work as expected,
see the application’s release notes and documentation to
determine the problem.
