new at 11i original release

The HP-UX 11i Version 1 Operating Environments each consist of the HP-UX operating system and a set of applications and drivers that are “always installed” through various bundles, as well as a collection of additional applications and drivers that you can selectively install.

The HP-UX 11i release is available in one of the following Operating Environments (OEs):

You can choose the HP-UX 11i Operating Environment that is best suited for your computing environment. Although there are five OEs available, only one can be installed and operate on your HP server or workstation. The applications of the HP-UX 11i Operating Environments include those shown in Table 6-1 “Operating Environment Applications”.

NOTE: For a description of the Operating Environments’ media structure, including the contents of each bundle, see the whitepaper “HP-UX 11i Operating Environments” at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/os/11i/hpwoldfullpres.pdf.

For an overview of the applications available on various versions of HP-UX, including 10.20, 11.0, and 11i, see the Application Availability Matrix at http://www.software.hp.com/MATRIX.
