This section includes information on obtaining and installing TOUR 2.0. It includes information needed before and after the TOUR 2.0 installation.

NOTE: TOUR 2.0 is not compatible with some versions of IPSec. Before installing TOUR 2.0, refer to the section titled “TOUR 2.0 and IPSec” of this guide.

Installation Instructions

To install TOUR 2.0, complete the following steps:

  1. Review “System Requirements” to ensure your system meets TOUR 2.0 requirements.

  2. Acquire the TOUR 2.0 software:

    1. Go to the HP Software Depot at http://www.software.hp.com.

    2. Search for “TOUR” and read the “Overview” and “Installation” pages for TOUR 2.0.

    3. Select Receive for Free >> option at the bottom right of the page.

    4. Choose TOUR 2.0, software specification for the HP-UX 11i v2 release (“HP-UX 11.23 IA”.)

    5. Enter your registration information, and read and accept the Terms and Conditions statements.

    6. Select Download at the bottom of the page and save the TOUR 2.0 release depot to a local file on your system, for example: /tmp/TOUR.depot.

    7. Use the swlist -d @ /tmp/TOUR.depot command to verify the depot file is on your system.

  3. Use swinstall to install TOUR 2.0 from the location you saved the depot file to. For example, run the following:

    swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s /tmp/TOUR.depot TOUR

    Notice that the target selection specified in the swinstall example is “TOUR”, not “TOUR2”,since the TOUR 2.0 product bundle name is “TOUR”. The product bundle version reflects the version change from 1.0 to 2.0.

    The Mobile IPv6 product is optional. If you do not want to install Mobile IPv6, use interactive swinstall and deselect the Mobile IPv6 product.

    The system reboots automatically if the swinstall execution completes without errors.

NOTE: To minimize the number of required reboots, you may want to combine patch requirements (patch depot files) and TOUR 2.0 software (depot file) into one combined depot using the swcopy utility. Refer to the swcopy(1M) man page for more information.

This section includes other relevant information about installing and using TOUR 2.0.

Installation or Removal of Transport or PPP Patches

After installing TOUR 2.0, you cannot remove or install additional transport patches. If you need to add or remove a transport patch, then you will need to first remove TOUR 2.0. Separate patches for TOUR 2.0 (distinct from transport patches) will be available, as needed.

If you attempt to install a transport patch after installing TOUR 2.0, the system displays the following message:

NOTE: The Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is already installed. HP-UX cumulative ARPA Transport patches can NOT be installed because installing them would corrupt TOUR. TOUR has a separate support mechanism (patches and new versions). Please use this for updates to TOUR. If you must install this patch PHNE_nnnnn, then first remove TOUR.

If you attempt to remove a transport patch after installing TOUR 2.0, the system displays the following message:

ERROR: The Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is already installed. HP-UX cumulative ARPA Transport patches can NOT be removed because removing them would corrupt TOUR. If you must remove this patch PHNE_nnnnn, then first remove TOUR.

If you attempt to install or remove a PPP patch, similar messages are displayed.

TOUR 2.0 and IPSec

TOUR 2.0 is only compatible with, and is a software requirement for, (when available) IPSec (J4256AA) version A.02.00 or greater. It is not compatible with earlier versions of IPSec. If you try to install TOUR 2.0 on a system that has an earlier version of IPSec (J4256AA) you will see the following error message:

ERROR: An older IPSec product (J2456AA) is already installed. This version of Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) can only be installed if either 1) the older IPSec has been removed, or 2)when available, IPSec (J4256AA) version A.02.00 or greater is installed at the same time. IMPORTANT: DO NOT REMOVE IPSec unless a) you no longer want IPSec and need this version of TOUR or b) you are sure you can obtain IPSec (J4256AA) version A.02.00 or greater.
