HP CDE 2.1

HP CDE 2.1 is the latest version on HP-UX 11.0, superseding HP CDE 1.0 as shipped with previous releases.

There are a few small functional differences between the run-time functionality of HP CDE 1.0 and 2.1.

For selected locales, input methods can be selected at session start (using dtimsstart).

HP CDE 1.0 was localized in 10 languages. HP CDE 2.1 is fully localized (including user interfaces, messages, on-line help, and manuals) for English, Japanese, German, and French. It has localized user interfaces and messages for Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, Swedish, Italian and Spanish.

The HP CDE 2.1 Getting Started Guide is provided in hardcopy for all languages mentioned above.

X/Motif Libraries

For 11.0, the changes include:

  • The X Window System Version 11 changes from Release 6.1 libraries to Release 6.2 libraries. This affects Print Extension and Vertical Writing and User-Defined characters.

  • OSF Motif changes from 1.2 libraries to 2.1 libraries. This allows for Internalization support for on-the-spot input method and vertical text writing.
