After you run the OVP to verify the successful installation and configuration of your system, HP recommends that you take a snapshot of the system configuration database to create a baseline version. A baseline copy of the database can be useful if you have to restore the database to its original state.
Enter the following command to back up the system configuration database to a file in the current directory:
# managedb backup ./filename |
You can save the backup file to a directory of your choice, and you can add a date and time stamp to the file name to easily determine when the backup file was created.
Depending upon your corporate policy for managing system and database backups, you may also want to consider storing the database backup file on a remote system as an additional precaution.
