Table 1-3 lists the supported console management device for each hardware model within each cluster platform. The console device provides remote access to the console of each node, enabling functions such as remote power management and remote boot.
HP workstation models (such as the xw8200 and xw9300) do not have console ports.
In HP XC systems, HP ProLiant servers provide remote management features through a baseboard management controller (BMC). The BMC enables functions such as remote power management and remote boot. HP ProLiant BMCs comply with a specified release of the industry-standard Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI). HP XC supports two IPMI-compliant BMCs: integrated lights out (iLO) and Lights-Out 100i (LO-100i), depending on the server model.
