Configuring refers to establishing and maintaining the following configurable resident components:

  • The Event Manager daemon, evmd

  • The channel manager, evmchmgr

  • The logger, evmlogger

Each component recognizes a configuration file that directs its operations.

When you install the operating system, the Event Manager is configured to run with default options that are suitable for most installations. However, you can change the configuration of your system under the following conditions:

  • An event channel is to be added or modified

  • The log file archive and expiration options need to be changed

  • An alternate logging directory is established

Whenever the configuration changes because a new file is loaded or because a change is made, the configuration must be reestablished by running the evmreload command. For more information on this command, see evmreload(8) .
