HyperFabric is a high-speed network link that runs on various HP systems running HP-UX. HyperFabric supports Hyper Messaging Protocol (HMP) and the IP network protocol stack (TCP/IP/UDP).

Summary of Change

The March 2006 version of HyperFabric supports large user count. Large user count builds on top of Hyper Messaging Protocol (HMP) software which includes support for transparent local failover feature. The number of users supported depends on the number of Card-Pairs configured. For more information, see the HyperFabric Configuration Guidelines, available at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/netcom/index.html#HyperFabric.

Impact

There are no impacts other than the support of large user count.

Compatibility

Newer versions of MPI will not be certified with HF2.

Performance

HyperFabric provides up to 2.5 Gb/s Full Duplex Bandwidth per card, with latency of <22us for the HF2 Card.
