Installing Ignite-UX

If you are installing Ignite-UX from media, place the CD, DVD, or tape in the drive on the system you are installing it on.

Using the swinstall GUI

If you are unfamiliar with installing HP-UX software, the easiest way to install an Ignite-UX depot is by running the swinstall command with its GUI. To do this, just enter the command with no arguments, and the GUI will launch, as shown in Figure 2-2.

Immediately, the window will appear for you to specify the source depot - see Figure 2-3.

If you are using a downloaded depot, select the Source Depot Type: (Local Directory) from the Specify Source window, and the Source Depot Path... from the Depot Paths window shown in Figure 2-4. The Source Depot Path... must be the full path to the file, including the file name. Note that the depot you downloaded must be on the same system you are installing it on.

If you are installing from media, and if you have not already mounted it, select Find Local CD on the Specify Source window to locate and mount the media.

Select OK on the Specify Source window, and you are returned to the SD Install window, which is now populated with available depots to install. Select the depots you want to install, and then select Actions->Install. You are then taken to the Install Analysis window, shown in Figure 2-5, where potential impacts of the installation are analyzed and reported in the log file. After the analysis runs, check to see if there are any errors or warnings to attend to before actually installing your depots.

Once your Install Analysis is satisfactory, select OK, and the Install Window will appear. When the installation is complete, check the log file and product summary for information.

You have successfully installed Ignite-UX on your server. Select Done in the Install Window, and select File->Exit from the SD Install window.

	NOTE: If you must access a remote CD/DVD drive, you must mount it before you launch the SD Install GUI. You might also need to register the mount point of the CD/DVD on the remote system as a depot by using swreg on the remote system.

After installing Ignite-UX, unmount and remove the media.
