The HP Instant Capacity (iCAP) and HP Pay per use (PPU) software products are a part of the HP Utility Pricing Solutions program. iCAP is a purchase model in which capacity can be instantly increased to accommodate increasing demands. PPU is a lease model in which you are charged only for actual processor usage.

NOTE: PPU is unchanged for the March 2009 update release.

HP Instant Capacity

The HP Instant Capacity (iCAP) version B.11.31.09.01.00 software (product number B9073BA) provides the ability to instantly increase or decrease processing capacity on specified HP Enterprise servers.

Summary of Change

iCAP version B.11.31.09.01.00 includes the following new features and changes:

  • iCAP 9.01 provides support of the IPV6 network protocol for GiCAP group managers and members

  • iCAP 9.01 is required for use with VSE 4.1, specifically for gWLM 4.1 and iCAP Manager 4.1

  • Minor changes were made to the icapstatus, icapmanage, and icap manpages

  • Several defect fixes have been incorporated

Impact

More versatility in configuring GiCAP groups (with IPV6) and more functionality with gWLM and iCAP Manager.

Compatibility

gWLM 4.1 requires iCAP 9.01 for GiCAP integration support. iCAP Manager 4.1 requires iCAP 9.01 to be able to configure iCAP systems.

Performance

There are no known performance issues.
