Table 1 lists the types of installations you can perform. This document is designed to lead you through the installation and configuration procedures in a specific sequence.

New installation

Installs HP XC System Software Version 3.2 on all supported HP cluster platforms. A new installation overwrites any pre-existing HP XC system configuration.

Chapter 1 through Chapter 4

Software upgrade

Installs HP XC System Software Version 3.2 on an HP XC system that is running an older version of the HP XC System Software.

Chapter 5

Reinstallation of Version 3.2

Reinstalls HP XC System Software Version 3.2 on an HP XC system that is already running Version 3.2. A reinstallation overwrites any pre-existing HP XC configuration.

Chapter 6

HP XC System Software installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Installs and configures Red Hat Enterprise Linux Enterprise Version RHEL4 U4 on the head node, and then installs the HP XC System Software Version 3.2 as a layered product.

Chapter 7

HP XC System Software upgrade on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Upgrades HP XC System Software Version 3.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux to HP XC System Software Version 3.2 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

To reduce the size of screen displays and command output in this document, a three- or four-node system was used to generate most of the sample command output shown in this document.
