The following enhancements have been made to the cluster_config utility:

  • The --init and --migrate options have been added to the cluster_config utility. These options are used during the software upgrade process to designate whether or not you want to retain your existing system configuration or migrate to the default configuration introduced in this release.

The --init option can also be used any time you want to reconfigure your system to use the default role to node mappings.

  • The main menu of the cluster_config utility includes the option to analyze current node role assignments with settings recommended by HP.

HP recommends using this option any time you run the cluster_config utility, even when you are configuring your system for the first time.

  • The ability to add customized services to one or more nodes is provided.

Customizing services configuration is intended for expert HP XC users; this feature is typically not required nor intended for the typical HP XC system.

At the main menu of the cluster_config utility, enter the letter p to continue the system configuration process.

    The following prompt is displayed:

    [S]ervices Config, [P]roceed, [Q]uit:

Enter s to perform customized services configuration on the nodes in your system.

  • The ability to configure a node or nodes as a NIS slave server has been automated, thereby eliminating the manual process that was required in previous releases.

If you modify the default role assignments and assign a nis_server role to configure one or more nodes as a NIS slave server, you are prompted to enter the name of your NIS master server or its IP address as well as your NIS domain name.

All functional changes to the system configuration process are documented in the HP XC System Software Installation Guide.
