The Operation Verification Program (OVP) has been enhanced to include the Performance Health Check (PHC) suite of tests for validating the performance levels of various HP XC components.

System administrators (as root) can use the OVP/PHC to validate the performance of the entire system, and all users can invoke the OVP/PHC to determine performance anomalies before and after a job run.

The OVP/PHC verifies the following components:

  • CPU usage

  • Memory usage

  • CPU floating-point performance

  • Memory bandwidth

  • Interconnect performance (uni-directional, bi-directional, and collectives: all-to-all, allgather, and allreduce)

You can specify cluster nodes on which to run the test or you can perform the test within your own allocation. If the memory usage test identifies nodes with high memory usage, use the clearbc option to free up the memory in buffer cache.

For more information about enhancements to the OVP, see the HP XC System Software Installation Guide, the HP XC System Software Administration Guide , the HP XC System Software User's Guide, and ovp(8).
