Occasionally you may need to perform more advanced configuration or system administration tasks. These tasks frequently require superuser permission and a more advanced knowledge of HP-UX and HP VUE.

The following tables list advanced tasks for both HP-UX and HP VUE and provide references to manuals and online help for additional information.

To access the online help, click the Help Manager control (the books and question mark) on the Front Panel. Then click the indicated topics. For more information on using online help, see Chapter 4 “Getting Help”.

To run SAM, ensure you have superuser permission, then enter /usr/sbin/sam on the command line.

Many of these tasks require you to type HP-UX commands in a terminal window. Chapter 3 “Learning Basic Skills” explains how to use terminal windows.

Most of the tasks in the following table, "Advanced HP VUE Tasks", require you to use the HP VUE interface. However, some require you to type HP-UX commands in a terminal window. Chapter 3 “Learning Basic Skills” explains how to use terminal windows.
