If your application manages an extensible
collection of data types, there is a strong likelihood that it should
be directly involved with action invocation. This chapter explains
how you can invoke an action from an application. Included is an
example program that shows you how to invoke an action.
For more information on
actions and how you
create them, see Chapter 9 “Accessing
the Data-Typing Database” in this manual, and the following
chapters in the Advanced User's and System Administrator's
Guide:

to Actions and Data Types"
