Typing a long command line, finding a mistake after executing it, retyping the command, and finding another mistake, can be very frustrating. Command-line editing allows you to correct mistakes in a command line before executing the command. If you are a new user all of these sections are of interest to you; if you are an advanced user, some of the new features of vi supported by the POSIX and Korn Shell (see “Using Inline Editing Modes”) and “Using the fc Command” may be of interest. |
