You should be familiar with your HP-UX Operating System, including the appropriate languages, compilers, editors, etc. If this is not the case, the information you need is available in the HP-UX Documentation provided with your system.

If you are already familiar with display lists and want a quick overview of the Starbase Display List capabilities, see ``sbdl(3G)'' in the Reference section of this manual, or the chapter "Functional Review" in this manual.

This manual also assumes that you are already familiar with Hewlett-Packard's Starbase graphics package and its associated documentation. Therefore, Starbase concepts are used, where appropriate, with little or no introductory or explanatory material. See the Starbase manuals for discussion on these topics.

The manuals relevant to Starbase are:

  • Starbase Graphics Techniques — This is the tutorial for the Starbase product. It covers the features and functionality of Starbase in great detail.

  • HP-UX Starbase Device Drivers Manual — This manual discusses the various unique device-dependent characteristics and features of various pieces of hardware; in other words, how you get Starbase to talk to !!your!! device.

  • Starbase Reference — This manual is a small "brick" that covers only Starbase procedures. Included are syntax, semantics, and a discussion of functionality.
