NOTE: For complete instructions regarding updating HP-UX, refer to Installing and Updating HP-UX 10.x (B2355-90126).

After loading the new SW-DIST product, you can use the new SD-UX commands to update the rest of the operating system to version 10.30. (Note that your system needs at least 32 MB of RAM to successfully update the operating system.)

Please also note the following cautions:

CAUTION: Do NOT use any previous versions of swinstall or swcluster to update the system to 10.30. The update will fail.Do NOT reboot your system after running swgettools and before you have run swinstall or swcluster to update HP-UX.

If you are forced to reboot, you must run swgettools again before you update HP-UX.

Ensure that the booted kernel is /stand/vmunix before you install any kernel software. The swinstall process assumes that the system has booted using the kernel at /stand/vmunix. Installing kernel software or performing an operating system update with any other kernel might result in loss of data or other errors.
