The 64-bit implementation of HP-UX at 11.0 requires an understanding of the features and benefits of 64-bit computing and thoughtful planning before undertaking the transition. A lot of information is available to aid you in this planning process. Here are some resources to assist you:

  • Installing and Updating HP-UX Release 11.0 contains specific information about the steps and order of tasks necessary to upgrade your hardware system to the 64-bit version of HP-UX Release 11.0. See below for a list of systems that are capable of 64-bit operation (or upgradable to 64-bit operation).

  • Read Me Before Installing or Updating to HP-UX Release 11.0 contains important information about firmware upgrades that might be necessary to upgrade your system for use with the 64-bit version of HP-UX Release 11.0.

  • Chapter 4 “64-Bit Capable Implementation” of this document contains a roadmap of the paths available for transitioning to the 64-bit version of HP-UX Release 11.0.
