This is an addendum to the document, Release Notes for HP-UX 11.0, installed on 11.0 systems as /usr/share/doc/1100RelNotes.

Release Notes for HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998 (installed as /usr/share/doc/RelNotesExtPak) describes the functionality being provided on the integrated patch bundle, called HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998, found on the HP-UX 11.0 Core and Install OS CD. It is a cumulative addendum; that is, it contains the contents of the Release Notes for HP-UX 11.0 Extension Packs issued in April, June, August, and December, 1998.

By making available the integrated patch bundle, called HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998, on the Core and Install OS CD, HP is enhancing the current version of HP-UX 11.0 while maintaining full binary compatibility. The integrated patch bundle has undergone component and system-level testing, and contains:

  • Defect fixes

  • Enablement of new hardware

  • Software enhancements

  • Performance improvements

The Install and Core OS CD contains the following:

  • New version of the HP-UX 11.0 install kernel

  • Original HP-UX 11.0 operating system

  • New release of recovery commands

  • HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998 patch bundle (XSWGR1100)

The HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998, is available to customers in the following ways:

  • On the Core and Install OS CD included in

    • HP-UX OS Media Backup Kit

    • HP-UX 11.0 Upgrade Kit

  • On the HP-UX 11.0 Extension Software CD

  • By Instant Ignition. New legacy hardware shipped with Instant Ignition will include the HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998.
