  • If you are currently running 9.x, you must upgrade the system and its applications to 10.01 before you can be update to 11.0. This involves some pre-upgrade preparation, in addition to the upgrade itself. For this, you need to order the following:

    • B5429AA, for workstations

    • B3920EA, for servers

You must also cite the media option (AAF=CD-ROM) and language option (for example, ABA is English, ABJ is Japanese). This product includes HP-UX 10.01 and the HP-UX Upgrade Tools for 9.x to 10.x, as well as the manual Upgrading from 9.x to 10.x, which you should read first.

If you already have a package labeled "Upgrade Preparation Media," do not load it! The "Upgrade Preparation Media" was issued with the initial release of 10.01 and did not contain the tools and documentation needed to upgrade all the systems 10.x supports.

Find and read the ReadMeFirst that comes with the 10.01 software. It contains information that could affect any of the upgrade or pre-upgrade tasks.

  • If you are currently running 10.01 or 10.10, see "Updating the 10.x Operating System to 11.0" in the CD booklet, Installing and Updating HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack.

  • If you are currently running 10.20, you can update directly to the 32-bit version of 11.0 or the 64-bit version if your hardware is 64-bit capable. See "Updating the 10.x Operating System to 11.0" in the CD booklet, Installing and Updating HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack

  • If you are currently running 10.30, you must update to 11.0 in two phases: first to 11.0, then to 11.0 Extension Pack.

IMPORTANT: Read the Installing and Updating HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack before installing or updating.
