The Ignite-UX process has been enhanced to support installing the integrated patch bundle during media cold install.

By default, running Ignite-UX will install the core HP-UX 11.0 files plus all pertinent patches issued in HP-UX 11.0 Extension Pack, December 1998. If you prefer to install only the core HP-UX 11.0 files and the patches categorized "Critical" or "Hardware Enablement," you may do so by going to the Software screen, un-selecting General Patches from the HPUXAdditions category, and using the category tags available in swinstall.

Beginning with HP-UX 11.0, Ignite-UX enables you to mark patches for installation as either applied or committed:

  • An "applied" patch is installed on the system, but can be removed and replaced by the previous version of the software later, if desired.

  • A "committed patch" is installed, but cannot be replaced by the previous version of the software later.

By default, Ignite-UX marks and installs patches as applied, not committed. If you prefer to have patches installed and committed, press the Additional selector on the main screen and then select NO for the query, Save patched files?

NOTE: Applied patches consume more disk space than committed patches, because previous versions of the files being patched must also be kept on the system.
