Working with List Boxes

Each HP Easytime/iX screen contains at least one list box. A list box is an area displaying columns of information. These can be items related to the current HP Easytime/iX screen, for example, a list of files on the File Management screen, or a list of available choices, for example, printers currently available on the system.

To identify a list box

Every list box contains a scroll bar on the right edge (and/or bottom edge) of the list box. If there are more items available than fit in the list box, scroll bars allow you to scroll through the list to view more information. The scroll bar arrows indicate the directions that you can scroll in a list.

Figure 2-6 illustrates the list box on the File Management screen.

To scroll in a list box

The cursor keys that you use depend on the kind of terminal and keyboard that you have. You can use the following keys to scroll in a list box:

Down one page	Scroll Down

To the top of the list	Home key

To select items in a list box

When working in a list box, you can select one item, multiple items, a range of items, or all items.

To select one or more items

Move the cursor to the item that you want to select.
Press either F3, Return, or Spacebar.
The item that you selected should now be highlighted.
If you selected the wrong item, you can cancel your selection by pressing F3, Return, or Spacebar again.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to select as many items as you like.

To select a range of items

Move the cursor to the first item that you want to select.
Press F2 {{Fast Select}} and then F3 {{Select}}.
Move the cursor to the last item that you want to select.
As you move the cursor, the items in the list are highlighted line by line.
Press F2 {{Fast Select}} and then F3 {{Select}} to end the range selection.

To select all items

Press F2 {{Fast Select}} and then /.
All items in the list are selected. This includes items that are not visible in the list box.

To cancel all selections

Press F2 {{Fast Select}} and then \.
Or, press F5 {{Update Display}}.
Updating the display always cancels any selected items.
