All HP Fortran 90 statements are fully described in Chapter 10, in alphabetical order.

Statement order

Figure 2-1 “ Statement ordering requirements” summarizes the rules for statement ordering. It should be read in conjunction with Figure 2-2 “ Statements allowed in scoping units”, which checks off those statements that can appear in the various categories of scoping unit.

In Figure 2-1 “ Statement ordering requirements”, vertical lines separate statements that can be interspersed; horizontal lines separate statements that cannot be interspersed. Thus, for example, the tables indicate:

  • That USE statements, if present, must come immediately after the initial statement of the program unit.

  • That FORMAT statements can appear anywhere in the program unit between the USE statement position and the CONTAINS statement position (but not in modules, because Figure 2-2 “ Statements allowed in scoping units” prohibits their appearance in modules).

  • That DATA statements can be interspersed with executable constructs.
