NAME
vmsa_server — start the VERITAS Volume Manager Storage Administrator server
SYNOPSIS
vmsa_server
[-r|-k|-q

DESCRIPTION
vmsa_server
starts the VERITAS Volume Manager Storage Administrator (VMSA) server.
vmsa_server
can only be run as root.
The Volume Manager configuration daemon
(vxconfigd)
must be running on the machine where
vmsa_server
is run.
The Storage Administrator server must be running
on each machine that is administered by
vmsa.
vmsa_server
is located in
$VMSAHOME/bin,
by default.
($VMSAHOME
is the directory where the Storage Administrator is
installed.)
After normal installation, a boot startup script for
vmsa_server
is placed in
S96vmsa-server.
The VMSA server may be put in auto-start mode whereby the server is
automatically started when a client tries to connect. The server is
later terminated if no clients are connected. See autostart(1M).
OPTIONS
- -r
Enable read-only mode. Server-side tasks will not be executed.
- -k
If
vmsa_server
is already running, kill the processes
invoked by
vmsa_server.
- -q
Query if the Storage Administrator server is running.
- -V
Print the Volume Manager and Storage Administrator versions to stdout.
Note that this displays the Volume Manager kernel (protocol)
version, not the Volume Manager release number.
- -u
Print client users connected to the server.
This option queries for a valid username and password.
- -h
Print the help message.
