For operation of the group membership service (GMS) daemon,
you must define a group of GMS parameters. When using Oracle Parallel
Server 8.0.5, you set DLM_ENABLED to NO and GMS_ENABLED to YES,
then set parameters as defined below.
OPS 8.0.5 Cluster Parameters |
 |
Appropriate values must be identified in SAM or in the ASCII
cluster configuration file for the following GMS parameters:
- DLM Enabled
When using OPS 8.0.5, set this value to NO. In the ASCII
cluster configuration file, this parameter is known as DLM_ENABLED.
- GMS Enabled
When using OPS 8.0.5, set this value to YES. In
the ASCII cluster configuration file, this parameter is known as GMS_ENABLED.
- GMS Connect Timeout
The maximum allowable time during startup for the
GMS to initialize communication with the cluster manager. If the
time is exceeded, the node will fail to join the cluster. Default:
30 seconds.
- GMS Location
Contains the absolute pathname of the ogms daemon
. Refer
to your Oracle documentation for this path. The specified pathname
must exist on all the cluster nodes and be executable by the root user.
The default is null.
GMS planning can be done using the SAM high availability options, which
let you display defaults or lists of acceptable values for the parameters
listed above. Enter the appropriate values shown in the SAM display
onto your GMS 8.0.5 configuration worksheet.
