This chapter provides an overview of Hewlett-Packard's multiprocessor architectures in terms of scalability. HP servers employ either a nonscalable or scalable SMP architecture. These overviews focus on the information most useful for programmers.

For more information on V2200 servers, see the V-Class Architecture manual (order number A3725-90004).

Although HP-UX is not used on X2000 servers, information on that architecture is provided throughout this book to facilitate the discussion of the Exemplar programming model on multinode SMPs. For additional information on X2000 servers, see the Exemplar Architecture: S-Class and X-Class Servers manual (order number A4716-90001).
