SoftBench requires that an entry be added to the /etc/services file. This is normally done for you when SoftBench is installed. If your /etc/services file is managed via the Network Information Service (NIS), an error message will appear in the install log file. If this is the case, you need to manually add the following SoftBench entries to the services file on the NIS master system:
If you are installing only the SoftBench CM server on a system with NIS, you need to create the following entry in the NIS master map for /etc/services:
