Preface

This guide describes how to configure disaster tolerant clusters using MC/ServiceGuard, MetroCluster/CA, MetroCluster/SRDF, and ContinentalClusters. The contents are as follows:

Chapter 1, "Chapter 1 “Disaster Tolerance and Recovery in an MC/ServiceGuard Cluster”," is an overview of disaster tolerant cluster configurations.
Chapter 2, "Chapter 2 “Building an Extended Distance Cluster Using MC/ServiceGuard”," describes campus cluster configurations using MC/ServiceGuard.
Chapter 3, "Chapter 3 “Building a Metropolitan Cluster Using MetroCluster/CA”," describes the use of MetroCluster with Continuous Access XP for creating disaster tolerant solutions using the XP series disk arrays.
Chapter 4, "Chapter 4 “Building a Metropolitan Cluster Using MetroCluster/SRDF”," describes the use of MetroCluster with EMC SRDF for creating disaster tolerant solutions using the EMC Symmetrix disk arrays.
Chapter 5, "Chapter 5 “Building a Continental Cluster”," describes the creation of a continental cluster configuration.
Chapter 6, "Chapter 6 “Physical Data Replication for ContinentalClusters Using Continuous Access XP”," describes how to configure physical data replication for a continental cluster using XP series disk arrays.
Chapter 7, "Chapter 7 “Physical Data Replication for ContinentalClusters Using EMC SRDF”," describes how to configure physical data replication for a continental cluster using EMC Symmetrix disk arrays.
Chapter 8, "Chapter 8 “Cascading Failover in a Continental Cluster”," describes the configuration of a special continental cluster that uses more than two disk arrays.
Appendix A, "Appendix A “Environment File Variables for MetroCluster/CA”," documents the environment template file variables used with MetroCluster/CA and the XP series disk arrays.
Appendix B, "Appendix B “Environment File Variables for MetroCluster/SRDF”," documents the environment template file variables used with MetroCluster/SRDF and the EMC Symmetrix disk arrays.
Appendix C, "Appendix C “Configuration File Parameters for ContinentalClusters”," lists all the configuration file variables used in defining the continental cluster configuration.
Appendix D, "Appendix D “ContinentalClusters Command and Daemon Reference”," documents the ContinentalClusters command set.
