Organization

This guide is organized as follows:

Chapter 1 “VxVM and LVM” compares the VERITAS Volume Manager to the HP Logical Volume Manager conceptually.
Chapter 2 “Converting LVM to VxVM” describes the procedures for identifying and converting an LVM configuration to a VxVM configuration.
Chapter 3 “Command Differences” describes the differences between LVM and VxVM commands. It also lists LVM tasks and equivalent or similar VxVM tasks.
Chapter 4 “SAM and Storage Administrator” describes the usage of VERITAS Volume Manager's GUI (Storage Administrator) and its relationship with HP-UX SAM (System Administration Manager).
Appendix A “Conversion Error Messages” describes the error messages that may be encountered during conversion and contains troubleshooting procedures.
“Glossary” defines terms related to the Volume Manager and LVM.
