Scanning Disks

This procedure checks for new disks and runs the appropriate commands to set up any new disks. You can use this task to make sure that the Volume Manager recognizes any new hardware.

To scan disks

Select the host machine to be scanned for new disks.
Choose Hosts > Scan Disks (Selected menu) or Disk Scan (Command Launcher).

Complete the Scan Disk dialog box as follows:

Host(s):

If the correct host name is not already displayed in this field, type the host's name or click Browse to select the host.

Notes:
New disks must be set up on the system before they can be used by the Volume Manager. The Scan Disks task scans the system for new disks. If any new disks are found, this task runs the appropriate commands to set up the new disks on the system.
