HP CIFS Client A.01.09 Administrator's Guide: HP-UX 11.0 and 11i version 1 and 2 > Chapter 2 Installing,
Configuring, and Using the HP CIFS ClientOverview of HP CIFS Client Installation and Configuration |
|
Installation of the HP CIFS Client includes checking installation prerequisites, loading the HP CIFS Client filesets using the swinstall(1M) utility, and completing HP CIFS configuration procedures. The CIFS Client and PAM NTLM products are delivered in the same bundle, packaged for installation via HP Software Distributor (SD). HP recommends that both products be installed at the same time. This is not a requirement as each one can also be installed and run as a standalone product. To install and remove software, use the HP-UX commands swinstall(1M) and swremove(1M). Detailed information on these commands are provided in the HP-UX man pages. The CIFS Client forces a system reboot during installation and removal. The CIFS Client modifies the kernel so that it will recognize CIFS as a mountable filesystem. When you install the bundles for the HP CIFS Client, there will be two products for you to install. The first one is the HP CIFS client software and the second one (optional) is the NTLM PAM module.
