Factory Integrated Systems

You do not need to install the iCOD software if your processors and software were ordered with your HP enterprise server. The iCOD software was already installed by HP prior to delivery. You can use the following command to verify that the iCOD software is installed and configured:

/usr/sbin/swverify B9073BA

You should see Verification succeeded. in the output of the swverify command.

IMPORTANT: The iCOD software is automatically installed when the HP-UX 11i v2 or 11i v1 Operating Environment (OE) is installed. If any partition in the system has iCOD B.06.x software installed, then all partitions in the system having iCOD software installed must be running iCOD version B.06.x software. That is, there cannot be a mix of partitions with iCOD version B.06.x software and a version previous to B.06.00 (for example, B.05.00) in the same system. See “Upgrading to iCOD versions B.06.x Software” for details of upgrading the iCOD software from a version previous to B.06.00.

For HP-UX you should not need to install the iCOD software; however, if you do, it is available from the following media/locations:

  • HP software depot (HP web site: http://www.software.hp.com)

  • September 2004 HP-UX 11i v2 Operating Environment (OE) media

  • September 2004 HP-UX 11i v2 Applications Software media

  • December 2004 HP-UX 11i v1 Operating Environment (OE) media

  • December 2004 HP-UX 11i v1 Applications Software media

The following instructions can be used to install versions B.06.x on a newly configured iCOD system.

For HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v1 - Installing from the HP-UX Media

Follow this procedure to install the iCOD B.06.x software on your HP-UX 11i v2 or 11i v1 system from either the appropriate HP-UX Applications Software or Operating Environment media:

  1. Log in as root.

  2. Determine the DVD drive device file by entering the following command:
    ioscan -fnC disk

  3. Insert the appropriate HP-UX Applications Software or Operating Environments DVD into the DVD drive.

  4. Mount the DVD drive to the desired directory. The following example uses the /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 device file (from Step 2, above) and the /dvd directory. To mount the DVD drive, enter a similar command as:

    Mount Example:
    mount -r /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /dvd

  5. Install the iCOD B.06.x bundle B9073BA from the DVD:
    swinstall -s /dvd B9073BA

  6. Continue with “For All Installations”.

For HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v1 - Installing from the HP Software Depot

  1. Do a search for “B9073BA” at HP’s Software Depot web site: http://www.software.hp.com

  2. Select the link, that appeared as a result of your search, and follow the instructions on the Installation page.

  3. Continue with “For All Installations”.

For All Installations

After you have successfully installed the iCOD B.06.x software using the swinstall command, perform the following procedure to validate your iCOD installation:

  1. Execute the command: /usr/sbin/icod_stat

  2. Verify that the icod_stat command’s output indicates the correct number of configured iCOD components

If your system/partition does not contain the correct number of iCOD components, contact the iCOD administrator at the following e-mail address:

icod_admin@hp.com

NOTE: If you intend to utilize temporary capacity (TiCOD) on your iCOD partition, perform the following procedure:
  1. Log in as root

  2. Set the system-contact information by entering the following command: /usr/sbin/icod_modify -c <contact_email_address>

  3. Ensure that outgoing mail can be sent to HP mail servers from your iCOD system, even if the system is behind a firewall. See “Diagnosing E-mail Configuration”.

  4. Test the transmission of your asset report, via e-mail to HP, by entering the following command:
    /usr/sbin/icod_notify <reply_address>

The icod_notify command sends an asset report to HP, root, and the supplied reply address.

HP responds with a reply e-mail to the reply address after the asset report is received.

  5. Use an e-mail client to verify the return e-mail from HP to the reply e-mail address
